Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Quincy College is helping to raise awareness about sexual violence and educating our community on how to prevent it by sponsoring programs surrounding interpersonal violence.

Participate

To participate in this event please donate $3. All proceeds will be donated to Health Imperatives, a local non-profit that aids families and individuals struggling to cope with poverty and violence.

Denim Day

One such program is Denim Day (Wednesday, April 26) which allows you to make a social statement with your fashion by wearing jeans with a purpose. Wear jeans to support survivors of sexual assault and educate others about the issue of interpersonal violence. This international campaign was developed in response to a sexual assault case that occurred in Italy and the activism that surrounded it. Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.

Sexual Violence is a major public health, human rights and social justice issue. Please help support Quincy College’s efforts in supporting SAAM.
