Overview

Quincy College Men’s Basketball finished the 2023-2024 season with a record of 21-6, a back to back 20-win season. This is also the third 20-win season in program history. The basketball program was ranked nationally at the #14 spot as well. The Granite was well-represented in the NJCAA XXI All-Region selections. Freshman Guard Malachi Bryant and forward Eldon Terry received Second Team All-Region. Freshman wing Shedrach Makanjuola and Sophomore guard Amari Jamison were selected for Third Team All-Region. Freshman Point Guard Amari Howell received All-Region Honorable Mention.

Basketball Coaches

Douglas Scott

Head Coach

Coach Scott grew up in Quincy where he started his basketball career at Quincy high school. He was a 4-year starter, led Quincy to two Patriot League titles and is the all-time leading scorer in the city of Quincy with 1555 points. Doug went on to play basketball at Massasoit Community College where he continued to excel. He was named NJCAA Division 2 first team All-New England. Following his playing career, Coach Scott began coaching at the high school level as an assistant coach at Quincy High School. He is actively coaching with the legendary BABC (Boston Amateur Basketball Club) under Leo Papile. Doug stays active in the community serving as director of summer leadership camps for the BO Foundation servicing over 100 adolescents during the summer evenings. Doug and his wife Paige live in Quincy with their daughter Savannah and son Beau.

Jamall Griffin

Assistant Coach

Coach Griffin is a USA Basketball Gold Certified, NCAA Basketball certified coach. He is the former Head Basketball coach of Cathedral High School from 2020-2023. Which he helped make the MIAA state tournament appearances twice. He is the present BABC (Boston Amateur Basketball Club) Associate head coach since 2014. Coach Griffin was also the Catholic Memorial Assistant football coach from 2013-2018 working with the Running backs and Defensive backs. This will be Griffin first year with the Granite program. Jamall is a store manager of Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. Coach Griffin and his beautiful wife Danette have 3 awesome children; Jamall Jr, Jamaya and Jeremiah. He resides in Randolph, MA.

Kenny Nguyen

Assistant Coach

Kenny Nguyen is in his fifth season at Quincy College, where he specializes in transfer placement for student-athletes within the program. A Quincy native, Kenny had a distinguished athletic career at Quincy High School, excelling in both football and basketball as a three-year starter and Patriot League All-Star in each sport.

After high school, Kenny pursued higher education at Bridgewater State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in sociology, followed by a master’s in education from American International College. In addition to his role at Quincy College, Kenny works full-time in the Student Accessibility and Tutoring department, where he is dedicated to supporting students’ academic journeys.

He also runs the youth basketball program at the Quincy YMCA, emphasizing skill development across all levels through private coaching, small group sessions, and youth leagues.

Residing in Randolph with his wife Kristin and their daughter Joelle, Kenny is committed to bettering his community both as an educator and a mentor to aspiring athletes.

Sullivan Coady

Assistant Coach

Currently in third season as an Assistant Coach at Quincy College specializing in opponent scouting, recruiting, and analytics, contributing to three consecutive 20-win seasons & 3 consecutive nationally ranked teams.

Additionally, he has spent three seasons working with one of the best AAU programs in the country, BABC. focusing on operations and event coordination, ensuring seamless execution of planning & high-level basketball events

Also serve as Assistant Coach at Pembroke High School, where they specialize in scouting and player development, helping young athletes refine their skills and basketball IQ.

Mike Magee

Assistant Coach

Coach Magee has been coaching under Coach Scott for 5 years. Mike brings passion and knowledge to the program. He is also a professor at the Quincy College.
